Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Card is what we have today. I was on Facebook a few days ago and saw this incredible video by a Mom of a son, Mason, that passed of Cancer.

To watch her video and learn about her story go to Baby Mason’s Mom’s video.

It moved me to tears and educated me. I was surprised I didn’t know these statistics. They are staggering. Did you know that every day 43 children are diagnosed with cancer? Of those children diagnosed, 12% do not survive! Cancer remains the number one death by disease for children. Although there have been great advances in the last five decades the number of diagnoses has not reduces in the past twenty years.

For more information on Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and what you can do, please go to Cure Search for Children’s Cancer.

Now that I have helped to educate you about Childhood Cancer, now I am going to educate you on how to create this cool card. Let’s get started!

Supplies Needed for the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Card Project

A Creative Journey with Melissa Awareness Ribbon Set #2

Acrylic Stamping Block

Card Base

Paper to Stamp Sentiment

Paper to Mat Sentiment

Y03 Chameleon Pen

Adhesive

3-D Foam Square

Memento Ink

Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer

This is the card we are creating. We used the sentiment from the A Creative Journey with Melissa Awareness Ribbon Set #2

This is a close up of the stamp set. As you can see, there are multiple creative uses for this awesome stamp set.

This is the awesome Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer we are using for the background on the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Card Project.

As you can see in the chamber of the tool, it is adjustable by using the screw on the side to tighten the pen or marker you place inside.

One of the amazing things about this tool is that it is adjustable for just about any pen or marker size. It has a removable chamber that allows you to use larger markers!

This is the Chameleon Pen we are using for this project. Next to it on the right is a thick marker used for elementary schools. This awesome tool will work with THOSE TOO!!

For this project you will not need the blending solution cartridge so you can set it aside.

Take your Chameleon Pen and slide the marker, tip first, into the pen holding chamber.

You will want to make sure that the pen is lined up so that you can get the air to splatter the ink. The above close up is a great example of how to do so.

The bulb on the end is what you squeeze to get the air to blow onto the ink causing your splatter effect.

With just a few squeezes, this is how it looks! You can add additional colors for other projects to add a really cool multi color effect.

This is what it looks like when it has been completed.

You can see the difference in how much I used the background color on the first versus the second background. This is where your creative input comes in. There isn’t a wrong way!

Now to start putting together the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Card Project, take out your A Creative Journey with Melissa Awareness Ribbon Set #2  stamp set.

Ink your sentiment,

Stamp your sentiment on your paper and set it aside.

Place adhesive on the back of your mat paper.

Adhere your mat paper to your card base.

Place your 3-D foam squares on the back of your stamped sentiment. Put your sentiment on top of the mat paper as shown.

You did it! You created this adorable CAS (Clean and Simple) card for your Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Card Project.
