Explosion Mini Book Part 3

Explosion Mini Book Part 3 is what we have for you today. I am feeling much better after my surgery. I truly appreciate all of the prayers, cards and well wishes and I am looking forward to getting crafty again!

We are creating the inside part of the explosion mini book which will also show you how to fold the pages so it works properly!

Supplies Needed for the Explosion Mini Book Part 3 Project

3 – 10″ square pieces of card stock

Bone folder

We are going to be creating two additional folded paper pages for the Explosion Mini Book.

Here is one of the outside covers and if you haven’t seen our previous two posts, please check out Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1

and Explosion Mini Book Part 2.

*NOTE: When putting this together next week, do not use wired ribbon. It doesn’t wear well. #Lessonlearned.

This is the inside page already folded. Although it may look complicated. There are only 3 folds for one page of the Explosion Mini Book Part 3. Trust me! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Take your paper and fold it in half as shown above. Use your bone folder to ensure the crease is strong.

Turn your paper a quarter turn and fold your paper. Once again, be sure to use your bone folder to ensure a strong crease.

This is what it will look like once you have completed 2 of the three folds for your Explosion Mini Book Part 3.

For your last fold, fold your paper to create a triangle as shown above.

This is what it looks like once it has been folded. Pretty simple, right? Now, we just need to invert a few of the folds we created.

Now we just need to invert a few of the folds we created. The triangle folds need to be folded the opposite way they currently are. The right is correct the left still needs to be folded up.

Here is a better picture as to how we need to fold both of the triangles toward the center of your paper.

Once your folds are correct,  your paper will look like this.

Take both  triangle sides that you just refolded the correct way and bring them both to the center of your paper as shown above.

This will leave  the square sides fanned out. Take the left side of your paper toward the center of your paper.

You will repeat this for the right side as shown above.

Using your bone folder, ensure all four sides of your paper have a reinforced crease.

This is what it will look like once you have it folded properly.

Repeat this so that you have three of these for the inside of your Explosion Mini Book.

You have finished the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 3 Project!

Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook

Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook is what we have for you today. I love planners, being organized and of course on schedule. I also love journals and doodling too. Today, I am going to show you how to create a budget friendly planner, journal or notebook. This is so simple you can have a child do it! They will love it too!

Supplies Needed for the Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook Project

A Creative Journey with Melissa Everyday Alphabet Outline Large Uppercase and Symbols Stamp Set

Acrylic Stamp Block

Ink

Scissors

Composition Notebook,

STRONG adhesive

Pentel RSVP Pens

Paper for Pen

Ribbon

Paper for stamping

Decorative Paper for covering

(I used my Brother Scan N Cut 2 to cut my alphabet images but you can also fussy cut them)

To begin your Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook Project, take out your paper to stamp your letters on, your stamps, ink and stamp block. Peel off your stamps and place them on your stamp block.

Ink your stamps.

Stamp your images on your paper. I have already pre-cut the letters to save some time. Put all of this aside for now.

Get your adhesive, composition notebook, scissors and decorative paper.

Place adhesive on your composition notebook front cover.

Put your decorative paper on the front of your composition notebook.

Push down and rub to ensure the adhesive adheres to the notebook. Repeat this for the back cover.

Open the notebook. Take out your scissors and trim the edges of the notebook for both the front and the back.

Cut a piece of paper approximately 2″ wide. This will make a great binding cover for your book. If you wish it to be larger, increase size to your liking.

Cover the binding paper with STRONG adhesive. Be sure you cover the edges to ensure adhesion.

Once you have applied adhesive, place the paper adhesive side up.

Take your composition notebook and place it in the middle of the paper, binding side down as shown.

Push down on the middle of the binding and roll the book toward you as shown above.

Lift back up again and roll the opposite way to adhere the other side of the binding away from you.

Push down on all sides of the binding to make sure it has adhered to the composition notebook.

This is what the Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook Project looks like with just the covering. Pretty easy, right?!

Apply adhesive to the line where the binding and paper meet.

Apply a piece of ribbon to over the binding area.

*When I went to pull a little thread, I started to unravel the entire ribbon.. yes my luck. What do I do? Show you how to fix it! Gently pull the ribbon off. Yes, you do take some of the paper with it but your ribbon will cover it up once you replace it so DON’T WORRY!

Reapply adhesive over the area it was before.

Cut your ribbon and make it even so you can line it up to the end of the notebook.

Adhere the ribbon all of the way up the notebook. Press down to ensure adhesion.

Cut the ribbon a bit longer allowing room for a bow to be tied.

Bring the ribbon to the inside of the cover.

Tie a bow at the bottom of the ribbon.

Take out your letters. Place adhesive on your letters.

Apply your letters to the outside of your notebook.

Take out your insert paper for your pen. Unscrew the cap off of the pen and set aside.

Roll the paper to make sure it fits in the end of the pen. Push the paper inside the open end of the pen. You may need to use scissors to push the ends in the rest of the way.

Here is a close up of the custom pen you made for the Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook Project.

Here are the two different finished Create Your Own Personal Planner, Journal, or Notebook Projects.

Create your own Cork Wreath: What you Need

Create your own Cork Wreath – What you Need is what we are getting ready for today. I am going to show you what you need to prepare to create an awesome cork wreath. With a little time and patience, you will be ready to create an awesome creation that you can give as a gift or keep for yourself!

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need a

What you will need

LOTS OF CORKS! (It obviously depends on how big your wreath is. I have about 500 or even more but you would rather have more than less!)

Hot Glue Gun Helpers Kit

Protected work surface or a Hot Glue Gun Helpers Craft Mat

Glue Sticks

Wreath ( I used straw but DO NOT USE FOAM or it will more than likely MELT with the hot glue)

Hot Glue Gun

Wire

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need d

First, you will want to get your wreath out.

Unwrap your wreath. Mine came with plastic wrap around it. You will want to carefully take of this wrap making sure you don’t cut any of the wreath. Once you have take off the plastic, you will want to look over your wreath to ensure there aren’t any huge pieces of straw or areas where it may need a little clean up. Remember, you will be covering this wreath so not need to make it look perfect.

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need cTo Create your own Cork Wreath, you DO NOT want to cut the plastic/ clear string that looks like fishing line. If you do, the straw wreath will fall apart.

Once you have looked it over, you are ready to add your wire. Be sure you have plenty of wire just in case you will need more wire to hang it wherever it may end up.

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need i

Stick one end through the wreath making sure where it comes out will be a good place to use for it to be hung.  If it isn’t, carefully remove it and redo it. You do not want it in an area where it won’t lay flat on the hanging surface or it will show unless you are using a decorative wire. Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need j

Once it has been poked through, wrap it in a circle so it stays out of the way when attaching the corks to your wreath. Don’t cut your wire until you give it or hang it. This allows the person hanging it to have plenty of options and length of wire.

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need e

There are two sides to your wreath. The matte and flat looking side would be the back.

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need f

The glossy rounded side is the front. You want the flat side for the back of the wreath so it lays flat where it is placed.

Create your own Cork Wreath - What you Need l

You are ready to Create your own Cork Wreath!

Stay tuned for our next video showing you how to put it all together!
