Scrapbook Expo Shaker Card Kits

Scrapbook Expo Shaker Card Kits is what we have for you today.

This is not a tutorial but a product review we are sharing.

Shaker cards and embellishments have been around for years but this is a new way to create a shaker embellishment or card that will save you some time! I really enjoyed the Queen & Company products I saw in their booth at the Scrapbook Expo and I can’t wait to show them to you!

For the first Scrapbook Expo Shaker Card Kits we have the Shaped Shaker Kit for Birthdays from Queen and Company. I really thought it was cool that it not only included the versatile die but the pre-cut foam for the shakers you will create!

What an added treat to get a nice page to keep in a binder so you can keep all of your kit items in place. LOVE IT!

Here is a close up of what is included in the kit as well as the amazing possibilities!

Scrapbook Expo Shaker Card Kits from Queen and Company come with their own page! You can keep them in a binder so all of your kit needs are at your fingertips!

Here is a ruler next to the package of dies so you can see how tall the dies are that come with this set.

This will help you see how wide the dies are with the ruler measurements.

Here are the dies and the foam piece that will be used for a shaker card. I love how the kit came with the pre-cut shapes of foam for your shaker creation from the Scrapbook Expo Shaker Card Kits.

This is the Shaped Shaker Kit Say Cheese. It’s adorable and perfect for those creations that you want to add a little color, dimension or a photo in a creation too! Isn’t the view master reel die cut adorable? Yes I had to look it up to figure out the name of it! LOL

Here is a close up of what is included in the Say Cheese kit. It also comes with a page for a book that holds all of the kit items as the previous one did.

One of the main reasons why I bought this kit was because of this adorable mini Polaroid die cut! SO CUTE!

When I saw this larger Polaroid die cut that is an A2 size, it was a MUST. I had to have it to go with the Say Cheese kit. I can’t wait to create with it!

Birthday Gift Thank You Cards

Birthday Gift Thank you Cards is what we have for you today. My son (MY BABY!) Austin just had his 17th birthday. My how time flies! He was fortunate enough to get some birthday gifts so you know that what means… Thank you notes!

I have always taught my kids if someone is kind enough to send you a gift, you can at least thank them with a card or a call.. or even both!

Well, today I have Birthday Gift Thank you Cards that are not only easy to make, they are super duper cute too! Are you ready to get CREATIVE? Let’s get started!

Supplies Needed for the Birthday Gift Thank You Cards

A Creative Journey with Melissa Sentiments for all Occasions Stamp Set

Stamp Block

Ink

1 1/4″ square punch

1 3/8″ square punch

Adhesive

3-D Foam Dots or Squares

Card Base

Paper to Stamp Sentiment On

Decorative Paper

Solid Color Paper for Mat for Sentiment

Solid Color Paper for Card Base

Scissors

Embossing Folder

Manual Die Cut Machine (Sizzix)

Twine

*Corner Rounder Optional

First you will need your manual die cut machine. I am using my Sizzix machine. I have the main platform on tab 1.

Take out your embossing folder.

Add your solid color paper to the inside of your embossing folder.

Close the embossing folder.

Place your clear platform on top of the tab 1 on the main platform. Place your embossing folder on top of the clear platform.

Take your second clear platform and place it on top of the embossing folder.

Using the handle, turn it so the embossing folder is run through the die cut machine.

Take out your embossing folder from under the clear platform.

This is what your paper will look  like once it has been embossed. Cool, right?

The sample Birthday Gift Thank You Cards that I have done opens horizontally which is the most common type of card from my experience.

For this Birthday Gift Thank You Cards tutorial I am going to do the same card only with the card opening up vertically like shown above.

Using the adhesive, put adhesive on the back of the solid colored embossed mat.

Adhere the paper to the card base.

Apply adhesive to the back of the decorative paper.

NOTE: I had a scrap left over that happened to have the corners rounded. If you like the look, be sure you round your corners as well.

Apply decorative paper to the top of the solid colored paper as shown above.

Here are my very loved and USED stamps.

Later in this post I will show you how I used the stained stamps and how the stain doesn’t effect the integrity of the stamp or image. You can use your stamps over and over again even if they are stained. I use memento ink and sometimes forget to clean them.

I do not, however, recommend STAZON ink for our photopolymer stamps. It is not recommended for clear stamps as it can over time effect the integrity of the stamp as can the cleaner to keep it from staining.

I have pulled out the Thanks for being so generous stamps off of my stamp sheet. I have found an easy way to place my stamps so that it is almost fool proof! If you didn’t see my video last week showing you how, check it out here! I also do it below in this tutorial but not as detailed.

Place your stamp block on top of your sentiment and then lift up.

Here is a close up shot. You are ready to ink!

Ink your sentiment.

Stamp your sentiment on your paper.

Here is a close up shot of the stamped sentiment.

I have been asked if the stamps will work if they have stains on them. People have told me they don’t like it which is understandable and others thought they would mess up the image.

I wanted to show you how I will stamp with the stamps that have stains on them. This way you can see for yourself how the sentiment comes out.

I took off the Happy Birthday Sentiments from my stamp sheet. As you can see they are clearly stained.

Place your stamp block on top of the sentiment pushing down.

Here is a close up so you can the stained. You are ready to ink your stamp!

Apply ink to your sentiment.

Stamp your sentiment.

Here is a close up shot of both the unstained (on the left) and the stained stamps (on the right) As you can see, there is no difference in the image or the integrity of the stamp. YAHOO!  So mystery solved LOL!

Now to continue the Birthday Gift Thank You Cards tutorial, take out your 1 1/4″ square punch and punch out your sentiment.

Take out your 1 3/8″ square punch and punch out your solid color mat for your sentiment.

Adhere your sentiment to your punched out mat.

Place the 3-D foam dots on the back of the matted sentiment.

Place your sentiment on the front of your card.

Take out your circle punch (I believe it is 1/8″) and punch a circle on the left top of the card as shown.

NOTE: Card is upside down when punching so it shows on the right side bottom.

This is what it will look like once you have punched the hole at the top.

Take out your twine. Going up through the middle of the card, push your twine up leaving some to tie at the end. Then you will wrap the twine around the card and go up through the card again. You will repeat this twice.

I found that if I held the extra twine on the back of the card, it didn’t get in the way of me trying to pull the other twine through the middle of the card.

Once you have wrapped twine around twice, you will pull it around to the front and then cut off any excess twine.

You will then cross the two ends together as shown.

Make a bow making sure it is tight.

Trim off any excess twine.

I really didn’t like where the bow was at so I wanted to move it up.

Here is a simple trick to do this. Gently bend your card. This will allow you more room to move your twine to adjust it.

Gently using your finger, move the twine where you want it to be. YOU GOT IT!

Now you can see the card on the left opens horizontally.

The card on the right opens vertically.

You did it!

Creating Journal Blocks to tell the Story

Creating Journal Blocks to tell the Story is what we have for you today. This project is something you can do in mass quantity, keep on hand and decorate on an as needed basis. There are so many ways to utilize Journal Blocks to tell a story. They are perfect for trips, special occasions, experiences or just for “A Day in the Life of” to document your day! I am so excited to show this to you so let’s get started!

Supplies Needed

 Stamp Block

A Date to Remember A Creative Journey with Melissa Stamp Set

That’s the Ticket A Creative Journey with Melissa Stamp Set

Card Stock

Ink

Corner Rounder

First, when Creating Journal Blocks, you will want to take out your paper squares and use the corner rounder on the paper.

Next, take out your stamp block, ink, paper and the A Date to Remember A Creative Journey with Melissa Stamp Set.

Place the dotted circle on your stamp block, ink your stamp and stamp on your paper.

This is what it will look like after stamping your dotted circle on your journal block.

Remember, when you are Creating Journal Blocks you can use whatever color ink or paper you want. Use what will coordinate best for your project. You can use Journal Blocks for a scrapbook, specific holiday or theme, event and vacation.

Take out your FEB stamp and place it on the stamp block.

Using your choice of ink color to match your project, ink your FEB stamp.

Pick out the correct date for your Journal Block, place your stamp on your acrylic stamp block and ink your stamp.

Here is a close up after stamping the month, dotted circle and date.

When Creating Journal Blocks, you can be as sophisticated or as simple as you wish.

As a design choice, I have decided to add the year to my journaling block. Take out the 20 stamp and the 17 stamp. First, place your 20 stamp on your block, ink and stamp on your paper.

Second, take your 17 (for 2017) on your stamp block, ink and stamp on your paper , lining it up to make sure it flows with the recently stamped 20.

Here is a close up of the result Creating Journal Blocks.

I love how the month and year are on the side and the date is straight. I thought it was something different to do.

We have now finished Creating Journal Blocks on the front side of our paper. Now, flip them over and we will start the journaling prompt on the back.

Take out That’s the Ticket A Creative Journey with Melissa Stamp Set and peel off the frame of your choice.

The stamps in both of these sets can be used as exact straight creations or gently move them around to create your own. The stamps that have an outline image can be made into other shapes and I love how the frame can be perfect or you can manipulate it by changing it’s shape so it looks like it is hand drawn.

Be creative!

Place your stamp on the block and ink it thoroughly.

Stamp your image onto the paper.

TIP:Be sure when Creating Journal Blocks, you double check that the paper is facing the correct way so it matches regardless of which side you are looking at because  you don’t want one based horizontally and one vertically.

Pick out your favorite prompt for your journaling block. You can replicate the journaling prompt for all of your journaling blocks or you can do different ones for every day.

I chose different journaling prompts but for this one I chose MY FUTURE and since we are getting ready to look at colleges for my youngest son, it worked! Time FLIES BY!

To change the look of the outline frame stamps, we manipulated it so this normally square stamp is now placed on the block as an oval.

This is what it looked like once it was stamped. I thought it looks a little like the Batman logo LOL You can also use these on doodling pages!

Here are the finished creations for Creating Journal Blocks to tell the Story.

What you will need for Creating 3D Embellishments using Mod Melts:

Mod Melter or a hot glue gun (and a plug that reaches where you are using it)

Sticks for the Mod Melter

Molds for use with the Mod Melter products

Protected surface

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-b

This is the Mod Melter info if you are interested in getting one of your own.

I purchased mine at Michael’s but numerous craft and big box stores sell it you can check to see if there is a store near you or you can also order online. Cathie & Steve’s created these awesome products and their store also has some of the Mod Melter products here. To check out their website and amazing creativity, be sure you check it out here!

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-c

Here is a Mod Melts Stick. There are numerous colors available with endless possibilities!!

I typically purchase clear or while and will color my own with my Chameleon Pens. In a few weeks on a future tutorial,  I will be showing you how I do that. When doing my video, I had said I was going to show you next week but I forgot about something so I will have to postpone my video… Do you like COFFEE?? It’s that time again!!!! MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!

 creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-d

OK, now back to the Mod Melts and Melter!

This is the Mod Melter.  The Mod Melts Stick fits in just like a glue stick would in a glue gun. Super easy, super fast and super comfortable! I love the way it fits in my hand, is so much more comfortable for those that may have arthritis or carpel tunnel. It really is amazing to work with and my hand didn’t get tired at all!

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-f

Here are some of the 3D Embellishments using Mod Melts!

I love how they came out and in a future video, I will show you how to color your Mod Melts 3D embellishments with Chameleon Pens!

Here are some of the amazing Mod Molds you can get and new ones are coming out all of the time! Be sure to hover over the above photo and click on the arrows to see the different Mod Molds!

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-l

After having your Mod Melter heat up for 5-10 minutes, you will want to place the tip of the Mod Melter in the middle of the Mod Melter Mold you have chosen. You will then press on the top trigger as shown.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-m

While you are filling your mold, be sure to pop any bubbles that happen to appear so they do  not effect your image once it is dry.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-n

You will also need to make sure that you fill in the edges properly. It is better to fill a little to much than to fill too little and ruin your image completely.

Please note: If you are filling up a shallow mold versus a wide and deep mold, drying times will vary. I will typically wait 3-5 minutes and gently touch the mold in which I want to take out. If my finger leaves a mark in any way, it is not ready.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-q

Here we are going to start creating the reindeer mold.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-s

If for some reason your mod melter isn’t working, double check to see if the stick is entirely inside it’s chamber and pushed in correctly. This caused me some issues when I made my video above.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-t

Be sure you continue to pop any bubbles that may appear when creating your mold image.

I use the tip of the mod melter so I do it as soon as it is happening to avoid any issues later with my image.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-v

This is what both of the molds look like once filled. Any excess I have once the mold image is dry will be cut off. It is preferable that you do not over fill. This will give you a cleaner sharper image without the need for trimming.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-w

Here I am taking out the star mold.

I do this by holding one side of the mold and bending it allowing the mold image to lift up with ease.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-x Once lifted, this enables me to take the image out. The molds are made of silicone so they are a non stick surface.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-y

This star had a little bit of excess so I am taking the scissors and trimming it off.

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-z

This also needed a little bit of trimming but look at the amazing detail in the flower mold! AWESOME, RIGHT?

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-e

I wanted to show you a sneak peek of coloring Mod Melts with Chameleon Pens. This is  BEFORE coloring the flower with Chameleon Pens:

creating-3d-embellishments-using-mod-melts-r

This is AFTER I colored the flower with my Chameleon Pens! I love how it looks and what a great addition to any creation! Aren’t you excited!!!!  I am excited to share it with you!!! Now for the winners from last week!

Snowflake Stamped Card with Giveaway

Snowflake Stamped Card with Giveaway is what we have for you today. I wanted to do a different take on snowflakes from the norm. I love the color purple so why not add it to a snowflake card? Its perfect for any holiday card and the stamp set we are using has different sentiments that can be used for any winter holiday or celebration!

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-a

Here are the items you will need for the Snowflake Stamped Card card creation:

Snowflake Beauty stamp set

White, Purple and silver ink

Tag punch

Stamp block

Rhinestones & rhinestone quick stix tool

Adhesive

3-D pop dots

Scissors

Silver twine

Card

Card Mat

Paper to stamp sentiment on

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-c

This is the Snowflake Stamped Card I created.

Notice the bling on the purple snowflakes. I think it gives a little pop to the creation along with the silver twine.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-d

To start creating your Snowflake Stamped Card, take out your card base, mat, stamp paper and stamp block.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-e

Take out your Snowflake Beauty stamp set and remove the stamps you are going to use on this project.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-f

Add the snowflake stamp to your stamp block.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-g

Take your purple ink pad out. Stamp your snowflake stamp on your Snowflake Stamped Card base. Re-ink your stamp for every image you stamp on your paper to ensure clarity and consistency.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-h

This is what the base will look like once you have stamped the purple snowflakes.

Clean off your stamp and place it back on your stamp sheet.snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-i

Take out the next snowflake you wish to use for your Snowflake Stamped Card. Place it on your stamp block

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-j

Take your silver ink and ink your stamp. Stamp your card mat for your Snowflake Stamped Card.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-k

This is a close up of the silver stamped image. Now you will want to re-ink your stamp for every image you stamp on your paper to ensure clarity and consistency for your Snowflake Stamped Card.

Clean off your stamp and place it back on your stamp sheet.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-m

For the Snowflake Stamped Card, you want to take out your last snowflake stamp, white ink and ink pad. Place your stamp on your stamp block. Be sure you are re-inking your stamp for every image you stamp on your paper to ensure clarity and consistency for your Snowflake Stamped Card.

Clean off your stamp and place it back on your stamp sheet.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-n

This is what the card mat looks like once it has been stamped. I love how the white snowflakes are barely visable almost as if they are a watermark.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-o

Decide which sentiment you want for the card. Take off the sentiment, place it on your stamp block and ink the stamp. Stamp the sentiment on the paper.

Clean off your stamp and place it back on your stamp sheet.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-p

Using your tag punch, punch out your sentiment for your Snowflake Stamped Card.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-r

Apply adhesive to the back of the stamped mat paper. Place the snowflake stamped paper on the card base for your Snowflake Stamped Card.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-s

Now you will need your silver twine. This is something that can be really versatile for any celebration!

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-v

Wrap your silver twine around your punched out tag three times (or whatever you prefer) and tie a knot.

Take out your 3-d dots.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-x

Apply three (or however many you feel you need) 3-d dots. Remove the paper on the back of the dots to expose the adhesive.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-y

Place the tag to the card base.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-za

This is what the card looks like once it is finished. Although it looks great like this, I would prefer a little bit more bling to add that pop to your Snowflake Stamped Card.

Pull out your rhinestones and your quick stix tool.

snowflake-stamped-card-with-giveaway-zc

Remove a rhinestone from the sheet by using the quick stix tool. Place the rhinestone on the stamped card mat. For my original Snowflake Stamped Card, I chose to place it on the purple snowflakes. For this Snowflake Stamped Card, I decided to use the rhinestones on the silver snowflakes.

Your creation is complete! On the left is the card I just made here in my video and on the right is the example I made before I created my video.

Now for the giveaways!

Coloring Therapy – Love your Writing and GIVEAWAY

Coloring Therapy – Love your Writing and a GIVEAWAY is what we have for you today.  Do you remember your Grandparents writing? Do you remember to use your handwriting on items for loved ones? Even if you don’t like your writing it is so important for you to use it. It leaves a legacy for your children, grand children and beyond! Love your Writing is so that you can either practice your writing or just embrace the perfect imperfections of it. Not everyone writes straight, neat, super legible and some only print and don’t use cursive. It is ALL PERFECT! Just be sure to use it!

love-your-writing-and-chameleon-pen-giveaway-a

This is a note that my son Austin wrote to me. PRICELESS. Sadly, it doesn’t have a date but I KNOW it is from Austin because I can tell by his writing. THIS IS WHAT I MEAN!

love-your-writing-and-chameleon-pen-giveaway-b

This is where it is really important. I wrote a little note to Austin telling him what I was thinking while looking at these pics on his scrapbook page.

Writing stories, journaling in your scrapbooks, and signing cards that are in your writing is really a lost art and I encourage you this week to use it! Sometimes, with the new electronic gadgets it is hard to pick up a piece of paper and a pen. It is my preference for lists but I do often use my phone application because of its convenience. What better way to share your amazing writing with Coloring Therapy – Love your Writing.

love-your-writing-and-chameleon-pen-giveaway-c

For Coloring Therapy – Love your Writing, I have used the standard thicker crayola markers for my creation. I don’t particularly think this is great writing but it is mine.

This is nothing fancy just a little poster to encourage you to  love your writing! You can do doodles, patterns, clean and neat, fancy, sloppy or whatever you want to do because its PERFECTLY YOU!

love-your-writing-and-chameleon-pen-giveaway-f

Here I am using Chameleon Pens for Coloring Therapy – Love your Writing. I love to use them to color but I also love to use them to write. They are refillable and you can replace the nib so they are a great forever pen set! If you aren’t familiar with Chameleon Pens, check out this video here. I used the Chameleon pen OL3 for the above picture. Just like a regular marker, chameleon pens write clean, neat and have such vibrant colors! Practicing your writing with color can be so therapeutic. You can also get such a different perspective. Maybe my writing isn’t THAT HORRIBLE after all.. well maybe? BUT IT IS IMPERECTLY PERFECTLY ME!

love-your-writing-and-chameleon-pen-giveaway-g

To change it up a bit, here I used the OL3 with the blending solution so you can see the gradient color on the word grateful. It would be really neat if you would repeat words doing this and it would make such beautiful art, don’t you think?

Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash and Giveaway

Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash and Giveaway is what we have for you today. I don’t know about you but I vowed I was going to be done early for the holidays. First of all, I would like to say I am super proud of myself! I am 75% done shopping and am THRILLED! Creating this easy to create gift card holder is a great way to create something handmade because you want to show your loved ones you care. It is super fast too!  I came up with this quick idea and thought I would share it for those of you that want to plan ahead of time. I have a CAS way to create something from the heart but doesn’t take hours and hours to do SOOOOO let’s get started!

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-a

Here are the items you will need for the Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash:

Stapler (I used the mini stapler by Tim Holtz)

Stickers in your stash

Fall & Winter Holiday Sentiments

Washi Tape,

Adhesive

Card base

Paper for sentiment

Scoring Board

You can also add Bling, twine and whatever embellishments you wish.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-b

For the Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash,

this is the first one I made as a sample. It took me about 30 seconds but this is because I did have the card stock pre cut. If you needed to cut the card stock, it would probably take about 3-4 minutes because it is pretty simple to cut a standard piece of paper in half.. If you know you are doing multiple ones, I would suggest you cut multiple ones so you have them on hand. It saves time!

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-c

Take your paper (Cut 4.25″ x 11″) and place it on your scoring board.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-e

Score your paper at 5″ because you will need to fold this for your card to fold in half.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-d

Score your paper at 10″ because you will need to fold this so that it holds your gift card.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-g

This is how the Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash looks once it is scored.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-h

Take the smallest area (1″ end) and fold up.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-i

Use your finger or scoring tool and reinforce the scored area on your Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash creation.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-j

Fold the area where it is scored at the 5″ mark and push down on the fold.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-l

This is what the Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash creation looks like once it has been scored.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-m

Take our your stapler and staple on both sides of the 1″ scored area.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-n

Take out your stamps or your stickers and your paper mat for the Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash creation.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-o

Adhere your sticker or stamp your sentiment on the white paper.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-p

Apply adhesive to the back of the paper mat and adhere to the card base.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-q

For your Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash creation,

take out your washi tape and rip off pieces for the front of your card. I used three. You can pick how ever many you want.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-s

Adhere your washi tape to the card front.

gift-card-holder-using-your-stash-and-giveaway-t

Take out any other embellishments. I chose to add some rhinestones. Adhere your embellishments.

This is what the two Gift Card Holder Using Your Stash creations look like.

For this week, we are going to be giving away the Awareness Ribbon Set #1 stamp set. This
is the set that I used for the correct your Chameleon Pen coloring MISTAKE  example below and in the above video.

To qualify, you must be a YouTube subscriber and Sign Up for our Blog/Newsletter list. That is it!

I don’t remember exactly who actually showed me how to color for the first time but I have a very fond memory to share. My paternal Grandmother and I used to color. I remember her showing me how to outline the item I am coloring and then fill it in with color. I remember this and still do it! Well, sometimes I get a little to excited about coloring and go outside of the lines…. YES, I KNOW! Usually it is on something that I have been coloring on for a while and I am at the last finishing touches and the mistake happens!how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-a

Now, for the creative stuff….let’s get started. I am so excited about showing you this. It is SO SIMPLE and super helpful!

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-c

I am going to be coloring the Awareness Ribbon with the Chameleon Pen PK3. You will want to take out your pen and take teh bullet nib cap off and set it aside. Place the blending solution chamber on top of the nib ensuring the nibs are touching. Wait 10-15 seconds.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-d

I took off the blending solution chamber and begin coloring your image with the lightest (light source) place first.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-e

OH NO! I made a mistake… lol

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-f

Take out your colorless blender pen. I use the bullet nib unless there are really small areas in which I would then use the brush nib.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-g

Using the colorless blender pen, “push” the ink that you want to remove toward the colored area. For deeper pigmented colors, you may have to repeat or it is possible you will not be able to get all of the color off depending on the color saturation.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-h

Here are the beginning results using the colorless blender.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-i

Here you can see where the color has dissipated.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-j

In this picture, I have colored the ribbon slightly outside of the stamped image at the top as shown above.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-k

Using the colorless blender, I am slowly using the bullet nub and pushing it toward the line.

how-to-correct-your-chameleon-pen-coloring-mistake-plus-giveaway-l

This is the result! Looks great!

We hope you enjoyed learning How to correct your Chameleon Pen coloring MISTAKE! This will work with ANY ALCOHOL MARKER MISTAKE I just used the Chameleon Pens as an example. It will also be difficult to completely get rid of the pigment if it is a very dark color as stated above.

Thank you for going on A Creative Journey with Melissa

CHA 2016 Chameleon Pen Demo and Five Pack Pen Giveaway

CHA 2016 Chameleon Pen Demo and Five Pack Pen Giveaway is what we are doing today! The amazing Julia from Chameleon Pens gave a great demo at CHA and I thought you would like to check it out. Not only does it explain the markers well but also at the new colors they are introducing! First, I would like to announce the winner of the one of a kind Becky Higgins Autographed card. The winner is Jessica Marshall! Jessica, please contact me with your mailing info and I will get that out to you this week!

Now back to the CHA 2016 Chameleon Pen Demo and Five Pack Pen Giveaway! In this tutorial Julia from Chameleon gives you a peek at the new colors in action as well as some coloring techniques!! I am really excited that they have added more grays and color tones that will help with more specific bright colors, skin and shading. Although the original set is awesome, the extra added colors I think really round out the set to make it absolutely complete! The tutorial is approximately 35 minutes long. It is a bit longer than my normal videos however, I think the information given is important and worth every minute!

When watching the CHA 2016 Chameleon Pen Demo and Five Pack Pen Giveaway video. Here are a few pointers that I found very helpful and informative. When we were videoing using the mirror so you can see the details of the video. The graphics are seen backwards due to the mirror.

  • When opening your pen, be sure to color with it to release the shipping material protectant. It does have an added material to protect the Japanese nib during shipment so you want to be sure that you use it before you work on your project. By using your pen, it will release the protectant so there isn’t anything you have to manually take off.
  • You are able to use copy paper when coloring because you aren’t layering color on top of color. Typically you are just blending with the various shaded colors because you have already mixed your blending solution with your ink. If you plan to use more than one layer or plan to saturate your coloring area, it is suggested you use at least 110 lb weight paper.
  • The longer you keep your blending solution cartridge in contact with your colored nib, the longer your blend will last. Typically the most amount of time used in Julia’s experience is 10 seconds.
  • Be sure to have some scratch paper so that you can test your color off to the side ensuring that your blending worked as you had planned for.
  • Be sure to have your pens vertically when fusing so that the blending solution does reach the colored nib.
  • Store your pens flat.
  • You can use these markers as you would with any other alcohol markers.
  • Memento is the ink of choice to use on paper.
  • If you are going to use your ink on another material, the ink of choice is the Memento Luxe.

Here are some pics of the results taken from the demo in the video.

Here is a good comparison to the different coloring techniques used. On the right is a picture that shows the blending. It also shows the right side leaves, right leaf is the standard color without blending solution. The left side leaves, right leaf is showing the Chameleon markers used in layers to color and shade.

CHA 2016 Chameleon Pen Demo and Five Pack Pen Giveaway

Here is a beautiful picture of how Julia showed how you can get lovely dimension. You do this by highlighting the inside of an item. You can also do this by deepening the color around the edges to emphasize the shape (round) of an item or picture.

Now for the Giveaway part! We are doing a giveaway!
