Explosion Mini Book Part 4

Explosion Mini Book Part 4 is what we have for you today. I wanted to thank you for your patience with me. Thank you all for your well wishes, thoughts, prayers, and cards. I went back to my day job and hit the ground running after my surgery and I think I over did it. I was wiped out last weekend so I wasn’t able to post. The good news? I am baaaaackkkk! If you haven’t seen the previous posts for the first three parts of this project, be sure to check out part 1 HERE, part 2 HERE and part 3 HERE. I am so excited to show you how to put this Explosion Mini Book together!   Are you ready? Let’s get started!

Supplies Needed for the Explosion Mini Book Part 4 Project

Front and back cover for your Explosion Mini Book Part 4 Project

Super strong adhesive

Ribbon

Strong adhesive

Inside pages of your Explosion Mini Book Part 4 Project

First, you will want to take out your front cover, your ribbon and your super strong adhesive.

In the middle of the cover (or wherever you want to place the ribbon to tie up your book) place your super strong adhesive as shown above.

Whichever ribbon you choose to use, make sure you “finish the edges” so that they don’t fray.

I used this little tool for my ribbon on my Explosion Mini Book Part 4 that I bought at the Daiso store but more on that later.

Take out your ribbon and fold it in half. Using that middle fold, place that in the center of your cover which will allow the same amount of ribbon on both sides. Place the ribbon on the adhesive. Add adhesive to both of the covers of your Explosion Mini Book Part 4 and set them aside.

NOTE: When measuring the amount of ribbon to use, I used approximately seven widths of the cover. This will allow plenty of ribbon to go around my creation once filled with decor and pictures as well as tie a nice bow. It will depend on the size of the cover so be sure to take that into account.

Take out the three pages for your Explosion Mini Book Part 4.

Place adhesive on the square areas (the part that is not folded as a triangle) of your folded green paper as shown above. Make sure you place your adhesive on the side where the paper is a hill (poking up as shown.) This will help with folding the complete project later.

Pull our your red paper and take your middle paper adhesive side up and turn it upside down so the adhesive side is facing your table now.

Before you place your middle piece of paper adhesive side down on the square as shown above, make sure you fold it to ensure it will fold completely so it will work once it is in your explosion book. This is the front of your pages connected.

This is the back of the pages connected.

Add your second square with adhesive to your third page as shown above.  making sure it folds properly.

Make sure the edges aren’t overlapping and that it folds properly.

This is what the front pages look like once they are put together for your Explosion Mini Book Part 4.

Now we are going to place the front cover on the left side square of the paper as shown above and

we are going to add the back cover to the right side square as shown above.

Use your bone folder and press the folds to ensure there is a very crisp crease on all of the areas of the pages.

This is the back of the pages of your Explosion Mini Book Part 4 project.

Here, I am going to slowly unfold the pages so that you can see what it looks like.

As you can see it looks complicated but once this unfolds, you are going to be amazed at how easy it is to fold it back up.

Here are your unfolded pages! YOU DID IT! Now, to add the covers…

I added one more piece of adhesive on top of the ribbon to ensure it’s adhesion onto the inside pages.

Take your folded inside papers and place the outside unfolded square piece on top of your ribbon. Press firmly on your paper to ensure adhesion to the front cover.

Take your back cover and place it centered on the top of the inside square as shown above. Press firmly to ensure adhesion to the paper and the back cover.

Now as a side note, I told you I would show you my ribbon tool. I bought this at Daiso a few years ago however it seems to work pretty well.

If you look at the top of the upper area of the ribbon sealer tool, you will see a line on the tool which actually heats up! Be careful, you will burn yourself… lesson learned!

Take your ribbon and place it on top of the heated area. You will want to hold it for a few seconds to ensure that the ribbon does seal so it won’t unravel.

Here you can see the hole where it sealed. Worked great!

You need to repeat it so that it is sealed across the whole piece of ribbon for your Explosion Mini Book Part 4. Now you need to make sure you tie a pretty bow around your Explosion Mini Book Part 4! You did it!

Explosion Mini Book Part 3

Explosion Mini Book Part 3 is what we have for you today. I am feeling much better after my surgery. I truly appreciate all of the prayers, cards and well wishes and I am looking forward to getting crafty again!

We are creating the inside part of the explosion mini book which will also show you how to fold the pages so it works properly!

Supplies Needed for the Explosion Mini Book Part 3 Project

3 – 10″ square pieces of card stock

Bone folder

We are going to be creating two additional folded paper pages for the Explosion Mini Book.

Here is one of the outside covers and if you haven’t seen our previous two posts, please check out Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1

and Explosion Mini Book Part 2.

*NOTE: When putting this together next week, do not use wired ribbon. It doesn’t wear well. #Lessonlearned.

This is the inside page already folded. Although it may look complicated. There are only 3 folds for one page of the Explosion Mini Book Part 3. Trust me! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Take your paper and fold it in half as shown above. Use your bone folder to ensure the crease is strong.

Turn your paper a quarter turn and fold your paper. Once again, be sure to use your bone folder to ensure a strong crease.

This is what it will look like once you have completed 2 of the three folds for your Explosion Mini Book Part 3.

For your last fold, fold your paper to create a triangle as shown above.

This is what it looks like once it has been folded. Pretty simple, right? Now, we just need to invert a few of the folds we created.

Now we just need to invert a few of the folds we created. The triangle folds need to be folded the opposite way they currently are. The right is correct the left still needs to be folded up.

Here is a better picture as to how we need to fold both of the triangles toward the center of your paper.

Once your folds are correct,  your paper will look like this.

Take both  triangle sides that you just refolded the correct way and bring them both to the center of your paper as shown above.

This will leave  the square sides fanned out. Take the left side of your paper toward the center of your paper.

You will repeat this for the right side as shown above.

Using your bone folder, ensure all four sides of your paper have a reinforced crease.

This is what it will look like once you have it folded properly.

Repeat this so that you have three of these for the inside of your Explosion Mini Book.

You have finished the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 3 Project!

For this weeks giveaway, we are once again giving away $15 credit to our store!

Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1

Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1 is what we have for you today. I love to create items for loved ones and this is a great way to give a gift from the heart! Once you create one.. You will be obsessed.. I apologize now! LOL Let’s get started!

The first lesson I have learned from creating these is DO NOT USE WIRED RIBBON for your closure. It falls apart as you can see.

This is the front of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1.

Here is the side view of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook. I will be showing you step by step how the Explosion Mini Scrapbook opens up and OH MY the possibilities!

As you can see it starts to unfold and you can see the added decor inside the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1.

This is the inside of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1. I love the colors and decor and how it coordinates with the whole project.

Here is the left side of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1.

This is the middle of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1.

Here is the right side of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1.

This is the back of the Explosion Mini Scrapbook Part 1. You have so many places to put journaling and pictures!

Today, we are showing you how to create the front and back covers for your Explosion Mini Scrapbook. This is the front side of your covers.

This is the inside of the cover.

I started with a 5.5″ square piece of mat board. I purchased this at Aaron Brothers which now has been bought out by Michael’s in my area. You can use chip board but I would suggest you use a thicker piece to ensure durability.

Measure your decorative paper one inch larger than your mat board. This paper is 6.5″ square.

Apply adhesive to your at board.

Place your mat board onto the paper centered.

Using your sturdy work surface, fold your paper on the corners of the mat board.

This is what it will look like when you do one side. Repeat for all four sides.

Once you have folded in all four sides, cut a triangle off the corners. This will give you a cleaner edge for the corners.

Apply adhesive to the paper and to your mat board to ensure adhesion.

Fold your paper and press the adhesive to the mat board. Repeat for the opposite side.

Cut all four corners of the paper on the non adhered paper.

You need to cut them like this.

Trim off the triangle as shown.

Fold in your paper as shown above.

Apply adhesive to the paper and mat board. Press the paper firmly onto the mat board. This is what it looks like once it is done.

Here I have done the edges two ways. Beveled edge or the square edge. I really don’t have a preference besides they are going to be covered by the inside paper anyway so it really is your preference.

This is a close up of the beveled edge.

If you want to have the beveled edge, you can do this by trimming off a triangle from the paper as shown above.

Here is a close up of both corners. Which do you like best?

Here is the completed front and back covers! Are you excited for the next video? Be sure to stay tuned where I show you how to cover these covers with clear shelf liner… YES I FINALLY REMEMBERED WHAT IT IS CALLED!! LOL
