Unfortunately, the winds are horrible until possibly as late as Saturday. Crossing fingers we stay OK. Now, are you ready for some cool stuff and giveaways? Let’s go!

Whether your drink of choice is hot chocolate, coffee, tea, or even a blended drink (which is what I ALWAYS prefer); you are going to really enjoy the 2017 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Now, onto the projects we have for you today! The theme is Winter and of course… COFFEE!

I’m not sure why but I have REALLY been getting into creating gift card holders. I have a number of them to give as gifts this year for the holidays and I thought I would share what I have created and various ways I do it.  We have a weekly YouTube video and Blog Post on Mondays. Ironic it is called #MondayswithMelissa.. maybe a bit too obvious? LOL At any rate, you will find a whole bunch of cool stuff, giveaways, tutorials and even recipes once a week so make sure you subscribe to both!

For my first creation and giveaway I used the A Creative Journey with Melissa You’re Snow Wonderful Stamp Set  and

For my second creation and giveaway we have the

A Creative Journey with Melissa Coffee, Tea and Wine – OH MY! Stamp Set.

If you aren’t familiar with my style it is pretty simple…. clean and SIMPLE – CAS. I like to have things that look nice but I personally am not one for a bunch of different layers and designs.

For me it is too chaotic for my ADHD so I tend to design and gravitate to clean and simple.

This creation can easily be made with scraps of your favorite holiday paper as it is not a card it is made with a paper base and holder for the gift card. Simple, clean and bright! MY FAVORITE! Can you tell what kind of gift card is in this?

For this creation, I created another gift card holder. The first creation I wanted to show you was the plainer creation of the two.

It is really amazing how just two changes and one extra step can make that much of a difference in a creation.

I used a little bit of trim, read decorative paper, cream paper for the lid, craft paper card folded and corner rounded, coffee cup, lid and sleeve die, decorative paper and the sentiments are from the A Creative Journey with Melissa You’re Snow Wonderful Stamp Set. I love how versatile the stamp set is and how cute the images are as well! You can create an entire Snow Family including Mom, Dad, birds, dogs, cats and of course KIDS!

Here is the SAME EXACT CARD. The only three differences are the green decorative paper, the smaller coffee cup die and I embossed the card base with a coffee bean embossing folder. THAT IS IT! Now for you to really see the difference.. I want to show them to you side by side…

Again, clean and simple with a little pop, right? Cute, Clean and SIMPLE!

Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition

Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition is what we have for you today. If you don’t already have a family tradition, no better time than the present to start one TODAY! This project is super easy and can be done every year for your tree, family, friends and even as gifts! Are you ready? Well, before we get started on the Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition Project, we are having an awesome sale now through 11/30! Be sure to check it out and no coupon needed! Now, let’s get CREATIVE!

Supplies Needed for the Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition Project

Crop A Dile

5- Patterned paper cut 1/2″ x 5″

5- Colored Paper without pattern cut 1/2″ x 5″

Red Twine 6″ long

Red Acid Free Pen

Scissors

2 Red Brads (mine have glitter to add a little sparkle)

This is a side view of the Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition Project I created. I written five of things that I love.. This shows  I love our laughter… And I really do!

To begin this project, take out your non patterned paper and acid free pen.

Using my red pen, I wrote five different things that I love about our family. I also spelled silliness wrong even said it didn’t look right in the video but it happens… lol

Take the written papers and patterned paper and switch every other one as shown above.

Put them in order in a concise pile as shown.

Using your Crop A Dile, punch holes in one side of the pile approximately 1/2 – 3/4 ” from the end of the paper.

Flip one of the papers around and use it as a guide. Punch a hole through the other side of the papers.

Now, you only have one paper with one side that doesn’t have a hole. Match that one up and punch the hold in the remaining side.

Take your twine and tie a knot at the end of the cut pieces. Do not make it a tight knot.

Take one of your brads and place the feet of the brad (pointy leg part LOL) and place it inside the knot as shown. Pull the knot tightly to keep it in place.

Trim the excess twine relatively close to the knot without unraveling it.

Place your brad/twine into the side where the writing is showing like above.

Open up the brad legs to keep the papers held together. You do not need to have it super tight or else you will not be able to manipulate the paper into an ornament.

Put your second brad into the hold on the other side of the paper as shown. Make sure the top of the brad is on the same side as the other one with the twine. This will give a cleaner look on the outside of the ornament once it is complete.

Like the other brad, you will also open the legs on the brad up so it keeps the paper in place but not too tight or else again, you won’t be able to create the ornament.

This is what the back of the paper looks like once brads are placed.

Here is what the front looks like with the brads and twine showing.

For the design of the Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition Project, you can either make a slight rounded look or you can fold in half gently to give the look that I used. Either way looks great!

Separate your papers like shown above, one paper at a time.

The best way to try to get it relatively even is to compress the ornament so that you can see how it lines up as shown. This will give you a much better visual to see where the papers align. You will NOT get it perfect. Trust me from experience LOL!

Now, take your ornament and squeeze it gently into a ball shape as shown. This gives a great rounded look as shown to the above left.

This is the completed Yearly Handmade Ornament Tradition Project. You can see the top on the left and the side on the right.

Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging

Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging is what we have for you today. The holidays are coming!! A great way to get prepared  for the holidays is to make some great packaging for your gifts! Whether you are making your own brownies, fudge, scarves or giving any type of gift, you can create Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging! You can make these in mass quantity so you have them on hand during the busy time of the season! Are you ready? Let’s go on a CREATIVE JOURNEY!

Supplies Needed for Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging

A Creative Journey with Melissa You’re Snow Wonderful Stamp Set

Acrylic Stamp Block

Die Cut

Sizzix Manual Die Cut Machine & Platforms

Chameleon Alcohol Pens

Detail Pen

Corner Rounder

Paper to Stamp on

Paper for gift topper

Strong Adhesive

This is a cute little treat bag I made and it includes pencils. This type of gift is perfect for kids to give at school to friends and teachers. You can use this type of creation as a tag for a large gift as well as a card or package.

Take out your die.

Stampin Up retired this die. If you don’t have a die, you can always just use a rectangle and round the edges for both the stamped area as well as the bag topper.

Place your paper to stamp on over the cutting side of the die. Put the die and paper down on the clear cutting platform.

Place your second clear platform on top of the die and run the die through the machine.

I made the tag for the Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging.

For the bag top, you want to be sure that the tag you create fits on its base. There is plenty of room on the sides so that it will fit quite nicely once folded.

Fold your bag top paper in half.

Using the corner rounder, round the corners of your bag top.

This is what it looks like after you have rounded the corners.

Take out your bag and the contents for it. Place your contents inside the bag ensuring there is enough room at the top for the bag topper.

Put your bag top paper over your bag and contents and align it so it is even on both sides. Using your stapler, staple your top over the clear bag.

The bag top has been stapled and this what it looks like after you have finished the stapling.

Fold over your die cut and set it aside.

With the A Creative Journey with Melissa You’re Snow Wonderful Stamp Set, you have numerous choices for your Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging. Not only do you have a Snow Mom and Snow Dad; you also have the ability to create snow people and even snow kids. You can also add pets for the family such as snow dogs and birds as well as snowflakes, snow balls and other decor for your creation. What would you make?

I chose the words to and from as well as the small snow person. This snow person can be a boy or a girl and you can decorate it with various extras in the stamp set. This is a different way to line up your stamps to stamp with. The awesome thing about clear stamps is you can see exactly where you are putting them. I place my stamps down exactly how I want them to be stamped, alignment and all.

Place your acrylic stamp block on top of the stamps.

Look how awesome the stamps look and are ready to go by using this method!

Ink your image and sentiment for your Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging.

Stamp your image and sentiment on your bag top paper.

Stamp your sentiment and image.

Using the stick arm, ink and stamp it on either side of the snow person image on your bag top.

I stamped the stick arms.

Since I did not have my orange stamp pad to stamp a carrot nose, I used my orange Chameleon pen. Using the brush nib, I just used a small flick and made a carrot nose.

Your carrot nose completed!

Using the blue chameleon pen, color the scarf on the snow person.

Take out your gray chameleon pen. Take off your cap on the bullet nose nib and place the blending solution chamber on top of the gray bullet nib and hold upright for 5-10 seconds. The blending solution combined with the pigment will make it lighter. Now, color the snowman on the side to show some shadowing and highlight.

Using your detail penand your stamps and create the face as well as place the buttons on the snow person.

Here I used the detail pen to create the eyes, mouth, buttons and names for the gift bag top.

Here is a close up of the front Simple Handmade Holiday Gift Packaging.

Apply strong adhesive the the inside of the stamped sentiment bag top paper.

Place the stamped sentiment tag on top of the mat for the sentiment as shown.

IT’S COMPLETE! Now imagine all of the different things you can do with this!

A Creative Gift Idea for the Holidays

A Creative Gift Idea for the Holidays is what I have for you today. Last Fridays post for the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop you had a peek of this creation! I am going to show you how to create one yourself! It is a really cute little gift holder for hot chocolate in the example but you can use it for anything! Whether you use it for gift cards, coffee, tea, or treats… the possibilities are really ENDLESS!

Check out the awesome Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop we are participating in, check out my blog post HERE for all of the info and projects too! Lots of prizes, creations and amazing inspiration to see! The hashtag is #winter2016clh

The supplies that you will need for the Creative Gift Idea are:

You’re Snow Wonderful ACJwM Stamp Set

Decorative paper (cut to 7″ x 11.5″ – snowflakes)

Paper for the topper for the gift holder (cut to 3.5″ x 5.25″ – purple))

Paper to be used for the tag placed on top of the topper  (3 x 5″ (white)

Corner rounder

Scissors

Ribbon (White)

Ink (Black)

Stamp block

Hot chocolate packet

Scoring Board

1/8″ hole punch

Adhesive

This is the Creative Gift Idea that we will be making today. Doesn’t look like much, does it? When you take the bow and lift the topper off…..

You get an awesome hot chocolate holder!

I just love it. It is really easy and can be replicated for teachers, friends, neighbors, birthdays and so many other things!

So let’s get started. Take out your decorative paper, scoring board and topper paper.

You will be scoring the decorative paper with the long/wide side at the top of your scoring board. Score your paper at 3.25″ and 7.75″. Set aside.

Take your topper paper for the Creative Gift Idea and score it at 1.75″. Take out your decorative scored paper.

Fold your papers at the score line ensuring they are even and folded so they meet up to the edge of the paper.

Take out your adhesive. Be sure to use a strong adhesive. Many have heard and use what crafters call red tape. This would work great as well as what I used which was the Scotch ATG tape. Starting in the center of the bottom of your paper going to the right, place adhesive on half of the bottom of your decorative paper adding adhesive to only the bottom .75″.

Fold your paper in toward the center of the paper to the left and adhere to the bottom of the paper creating half of your holder.

Place adhesive down the left side of your paper from the edge to 1″ toward the inside of the paper. Place adhesive from the center to the left (at the bottom part where it wasn’t glued) ensuring you are not gluing the holder to itself.

Press down on all edges ensuring the adhesive has stuck properly and set it aside.

Take your other scored paper, the Topper, and fold it at the score line ensuring it is folded in half equally. You will then take out the sentiment paper and use the corner rounder on all four sides of the topper paper and two bottom sides of the sentiment paper. Take out your

Take out your ink, stamp block and You’re Snow Wonderful ACJwM Stamp Set.

Peel off the To: stamp and the From: stamp from the You’re Snow Wonderful ACJwM Stamp Set. Place the To: stamp on your block and ink it then stamp the sentiment on the left bottom of your sentiment paper to be placed on the Topper. Clean your stamp and place back on your stamp sheet. Take out your From: stamp , ink and stamp your sentiment onto the bottom middle of the paper to be placed on the Topper. Clean your stamp and place back on your sheet.

Use your stapler and staple on the left and right side of the Topper paper ensuring the opening is at the bottom and you are stapling the sides. You will want to staple at least .25″ – .50″ in but making sure there is enough room for the topper to fit over the gift holder.

Make a hole with your 1/8″ hole punch in the top middle of the topper paper.

Roll your ribbon small enough so it will fit through the hole on the top of the Topper paper. Pull it through so it is about half in front and half in back.

Carefully open the Topper so you can see the ribbon. Pull the ribbon through so it looks like this.

Using whatever item you are using on the pulley, measure to ensure that the ribbon is long enough and will fit the item you intend to use.

Once you have figured out the size of the item you wish to include, you will tie the ribbon. *Note: Be sure to hold onto the ribbon so that you don’t make it tighter for your item. If you do, you can always untie it and start over again. Trust me, I have done it a few times myself before 🙂

Tie a bow on your topper. I use the two rabbit ear way to do tie the bow with the ribbon because always turn out much better for me rather than the other way.

Trim your ribbon so that the excess is cut without any area hanging over your package.

This is what it will look like once completed but without your item placed in there.

This is what both sides will look like once you have created them completely.

Now  you will be putting your gift holder together! Take both the topper and bottom and place your hot chocolate packet in the Creative Gift Idea!

Your gift is ready for sharing with a loved one, friend, neighbor, teacher or whoever you feel you would like to put a smile on their face!

The winner of last weeks blog giveaway is Becca Yahrling!

alena-christmas-ornament-wm

Hi A Creative Journey with Melissa Friends,

this is Alena with the ACJwM Creative Crew. My creation is a Christmas paper ornament. This creation is a combination of my love of Christmas and coffee. I just love that the sentiment from the Coffee, Tea and Wine – OH MY! stamp set created by ACJWM is just the perfect sentiment for my ornament!

winter-wishes-card-650-a-wm

This is my first of two creations. The first creation is a card I made using the Winter Wishes from our You’re Snow Wonderful stamp set. I used the Coffee is my Liquid Therapy  stamp set for the coffee sleeve and liquid therapy sentiment on the wooden coffee cup embellishment. I love how the wooden coffee embellishment works perfectly with the coffee sleeve! The paper was from my awesome haul from Michael’s on Thanksgiving.

hot-chocolate-gift-1-wm

My second creation is perfect for this time of year. GIFT SEASON… right?

I don’t know if this applies to you but as a creative Mom of two, I was ALWAYS looking for something fun and creative to do with my kids. I was the room parent for my kids classes. In doing so, I liked to change it up so it wasn’t always the same thing when we had parties or crafts, etc. I was always looking for different gift ideas for teachers and faculty for gifts too. This is a great gift that won’t break your wallet. It’s a WIN/WIN! I will be doing a tutorial on the above creation on my Monday’s with Melissa videos so be sure to come back to learn how I made this super cute and EASY gift! Yes, I said gift… You say… WHAT GIFT? Well, that is the fun part!

hot-chocolate-gift-2-wm

If you lift up the topper of this adorable creation, you can put a packet of hot chocolate, tea, or anything you can imagine!

FUN RIGHT? The ribbon is holding in the hot chocolate packet! You can create this too as it is perfect for those gifts for teachers, friends, co-workers and loved ones… And what about SECRET SANTA? YES! IT DEFINITELY works for that too! Do you want to see the tutorial on this project? Check out my video and blog post HERE.
